Cure CMT and Bexion Pharmaceuticals announced an investment from Cure CMT to support the continued development of BXQ‑350 in metastatic colorectal cancer (mCRC) and chemotherapy‑induced peripheral neuropathy (CIPN), two areas of significant unmet medical need.
In mCRC, BXQ‑350 has demonstrated preliminary clinical activity and, in combination with front‑line standard‑of‑care FOLFOX, met the protocol‑prespecified objective response rate (ORR) criteria required to support advancement to the next stage of study. Ongoing development has been informed by feedback from key opinion leaders in the field.
BXQ‑350 is also being evaluated in CIPN, where an exploratory Phase 1 clinical study in 21 patients observed statistical separation from placebo. CIPN remains a common and sometimes debilitating complication of chemotherapy that can lead to dose reductions or early treatment discontinuation and negatively impact quality of life. The investment is intended to support further clinical evaluation of BXQ‑350 and reflects a shared commitment to advancing therapies for serious diseases with limited treatment options.
“BXQ‑350 continues to show promising progress in areas of significant unmet need,” said Jim Beach, Chief Executive Officer of Bexion Pharmaceuticals. “In metastatic colorectal cancer, meeting a predefined milestone in a difficult‑to‑treat patient population represents an encouraging step forward for the program, while its potential application in CIPN highlights a differentiated opportunity to address treatment‑related burden.”
“For patients and families, peripheral neuropathy can be one of the most life‑altering consequences of cancer treatment,” said Pat Livney, Founder, CEO, and Chairman of Cure CMT. “The possibility that BXQ‑350 may address cancer while also mitigating nerve damage is central to why Cure CMT is proud to support this work.”
